Ira Iliana Papadopoulou is a PhD in Communication and Media at the University of Athens. She studied sociology, communication policy and cultural management at the University of London. From 2010 to 2012, she was an International Fellow of the DeVos Institute for Cultural Management at the Kennedy Center, Washington D.C., USA, and in 2017-2018 she was a Singapore International Foundation's (SIF) Fellow in the Arts for Good (A4G) program, a program to harness the power of arts and culture to create positive social change. She has been responsible for communication planning in educational and cultural institutions as well as civil society organisations, and for a decade she was the head of Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Hellenic American Union undertaking the planning, curation and organization of more than 100 cultural events a year. Today she works as an independent curator and consultant on communication strategy, while at the same time, as part of her research work, she deals with issues of vulnerable groups of the population, human rights, inclusion, education and public awareness. In her career so far in the field of cultural management, she has curated numerous high-profile events, such as exhibitions, concerts, dance and theater performances, film tributes, lectures, conferences and collaborations with major organizations in Greece and the external.
