“Transition to 8: Transition from Social Phenomena to Contemporary Artistic Creation” is an innovative research project implemented by scientific and research teams coming from the Laboratory of Qualitative Research in Psychology and Mental Health of the Department of Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Research Center “Athens Thina” and the cultural production and management company MENTOR. The first application of the methodology developed takes place in Eleusis. The aim of the project is to bridge key social issues of the city with contemporary art. According to the analysis of the social climate, the following three issues prevail: environmental pollution, labour and refugee/migration issues, which form the three themes around which the project is moving. Emotional and physical reactions of the people of Eleusis on the three social issues are recorded and analyzed by scientists and researchers. The aim is to transform them with the help of technology into a raw material for artistic creation. The large-scale multimedia project brings back to the community the “pulse” of the city refined through art.
