Color, life and a renewed atmosphere of intimacy were created in a former abandoned space [urban void], Ionian Square which has now become “our square” for the neighbors. The first square that acquired an “identity” from the neighbors themselves and gave them the opportunity to feel that it is unique and delimit it as their own. It all started from January 2019 through urban games and oral neighborhood narratives of the Urban Communities program where needs, desires, stories were formulated and participatory design actions related to the upgrading of the public space were developed. The actions carried out during this time highlight the need: to recreate the concept of the neighborhood in from daily meaningful associations, through shared collective neighborhood experiences.
