“Letter from the future to the Isovites of Ijedin: A documentary about the fortress that became a prison”, is about a medium-length documentary about Itzedin. Itzedin or the Kalamio Prisons, one of the most characteristic monuments of Chania, is a fortress that from a fortification project became a prison. For someone who has not visited Chania, perhaps it is known from the films shot there. In the course of the history of the 20th century, known and “unknown” political dissidents were imprisoned in Ijeddin. It is a place of remembrance for the political history of the country. But do we know him as such? The documentary is a way of recording and highlighting this history, through testimonies of people related to this place, with the contribution of historians as well as through the display of archival material. The present project - Letter from the future to the Isovites of Icedin - is an original creation financed by the Municipality of Chania and the KEPPEDICH-KAM through the Open Sails festival program. The presentation of the artistic work (Medium-length Documentary - Film Project) took place in Chania in November 2023.
