The “Africanisms” project is a long-term program of research, community collaboration and active public participation addressing issues of racism and discrimination and will culminate in an exhibition enhanced by public programs, cultural and educational events planned in collaboration with members of Athens' African community. This is an initiative of the Benaki Museum in cooperation with the non-profit organization Anasa Cultural Center as well as other interested parties. The exhibition uses the African collections of the Benaki Museum as a starting point, to create a dialogue with works and narratives of people with African roots born or living in Greece, as well as aspects of material and intangible cultural heritage related to migration, in a contemporary and historical context.
