The Urban Non-Profit Society Grid (www.plegma.org) piloted an intergenerational oral history program between children from 5 to 8 years old and 3 year olds in Skopelos in 2017. The purpose of the program was to bring children in contact with 3rd year olds, to teach children how their grandparents have many interesting things to say, as long as you ask them. To date, the action “From generation to generation” has been implemented in more than 11 islands of Greece and has also traveled to Beirut. A total of more than 450 children, 45 teachers, 177 storytellers have participated. Children and teachers are introduced to the world of oral history and learn how to ask questions/interviews around the themes of the program: everyday life, the games they played when they were little and the fairy tales they heard from their own grandparents and grandfathers saints. Children meet with storytellers and then develop visual works than they most impressed. These paintings acquire movement, narrative, music and become animation inspired by children's paintings and the narratives of grandmothers and grandparents. The free-to-view video animations feature English subtitles, multilingual subtitles for deaf and hard of hearing (SDH) and simultaneous sign language interpretation (ENG).
