Maria-Marina (Mariarina) Boukiou is an Economist with a postgraduate specialization in Cultural Heritage Management (Athens University of Economics/University of Kent). The preservation, promotion and exploitation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage is its general field of interest, and the chapter on the engagement of local communities with it stands out in particular. The sustainable development that can come about for individuals and their societies through the proper management of their cultural heritage is a motivation and purpose for it. All these years she is actively involved with many local cultural groups and bodies (mainly in relation to Istanbul, Paros and Penteli places from which he originates and resides). In this context, she tries to support specific initiatives related to the above purposes, voluntarily, with her passion and knowledge as a cultural manager. She is, among other things, a researcher of Oral Histories and is particularly attracted to Folklore, Traditions, Ethnographic Research, Public Archaeology, Cultural Tourism and the Art of Music and Dance. She is an adult educator in cultural courses and has specialized in Educational Programs, Culture Start-ups, Branding of Heritage Assets, Museology, Art History and Project Management. She works on individual cultural projects with the hope of bringing about positive changes around her. Alongside the Culture for Change Network, it is a member of the Bosch Alumni Network and ESDIAPOK (Society of Cultural Heritage Management Consultants).
