Three members of the Culture for Change network attended the annual meeting Global Cultural Districts Network (GCDN) — Athens 2024, held at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (NIS) on May 22. An interesting discussion was organized on alternative governance models for cultural organizations and spaces, with the participation of: Vivian Doumba (Co-founder, STIPO Greece), Dina Dziora (Founding Director, We Are Community), Konstantinos Karaliotis (Member of the Youth Council of the SNI), Natasha Dourida (Founder, Communitism), Emily Harney (AEA Consulting), as well as an exceptional team of artists, cultural leaders and activists. The debate highlighted how crises in care and a lack of trust in institutions have led to innovative ways of governance designed by the community. New models of governance that democratise decision-making, ensuring that cultural areas remain accessible for artists and public spaces for all, were also discussed.
