Dimitra Ermeidou is a lecturer in therapeutic photography and a visual photographer, with a degree in Painting from the University of Thessaloniki and a master's degree in Photography from Temple University, USA. Her visual work has been exhibited, published and awarded internationally. Her professional experience spans from cultural management, exhibition curation and cultural entrepreneurship, to various forms of artistic education and academic teaching in America, where she developed, among other things, an international mentoring program through photography. In 2018, with a grant from the program “START - Create Cultural Change”, she created a therapeutic photography program for people with cancer, which was awarded a Scaling Award from the Latsis Foundation, and was the reason for the creation of the non-profit organization “Eyes of Light - Art in Health” in 2019. As manager and program manager of the organization, she co-curates various visual activities, with the mission of improving the quality of life of people experiencing cancer, and integrating art into health spaces. She regularly presents various therapeutic photography seminars for cancer patients and survivors, as well as for other groups, and has been recognized internationally by the Phototherapy Centre in Canada and has been awarded “Best Therapeutic Photography Workshop Provider” by Global Health & Pharma in the UK.
